Datacenter/Co-Location services

National Institutional Facilitation Technology (NIFT) is responsible for establishment of multiple datacenters to support Automate Clearing, Utility payment and electronic security services for financial institutions and corporate sector. NIFT datacenter structure is designed and builds to support the requirements for information security, reliability and reflect the best practice standards such as ISO17799. NIFT has sufficient datacenter space to lease out to its customers for their production or disaster recovery infrastructure. Our datacenter leasing service will support to minimize the infrastructure rollout time and ensures the best practice standards to fulfill the industry and regulator needs.

Basic Components of Datacenter/Co-Location services

Most models for outsource facilities are some combination of real estate, telecom connectivity, power, hazard control and labor. These components are foundational to any datacenter. While there are many other services datacenter outsourcers can provide, having a firm understanding of these basic components and their costs is critical to maximizing the value of any outsourced arrangement.

Following hosting facility and support covered with our offerings:

  • Datacenter Floor/Rack Space

  • NIFT datacenter is designed by competent architects familiar with the specific needs of IT systems, including the associated information security requirements. Production datacenter occupies one room (size 14’ x 37’). There is provision for up-to 16 Racks comprise of 42U x 19” each and/or freestanding storage silos which can occupy many tiles on the floor. Some equipment such as UPS system is placed alongside them.

  • Datacenter Physical Access Controls

  • Datacenter physical security plays a key role for data centers protection. Physical access to the site is restricted to authorize personnel only. Permanent security guards are always present. Access controls reflect local practice and laws (e.g. guards may or may not be armed). The internal sensitive areas are fortified by separate access cards, finger print recognition and man traps. Secure cages and racks are protecting sensitive equipment. These are locked routinely and keys carefully controlled.

  • Power Source

  • Secure and reliable power supply for the critical datacenter systems has been ensured. Production data center power supply consists of 3+1 backup uninterruptible power supplies (total 45KVA) and two diesel generators (1)1MVA, (2) 100KVA. Mains regulators and filters offer protection against power line noise, spikes, frequency or voltage fluctuations etc. UPS batteries condition checked regularly, and overall battery capacity confirmed regularly by run-down testing.

  • Operating Temperature and Humidity

  • Air conditioning is used to control the temperature and humidity in the data center. ‘Computer grade’ highly reliable redundant cooling system is installed to achieve ASHRAE's "Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments" standard.Temperature monitors including overall room sensors with local and remote indicators / monitor (with suitable set-point alarms/SMS etc.) implemented and checked regularly.

  • Structured Cabling and Ducting

  • Datacenter cables are laid neatly in conduit and cable trays. Cables are properly discreetly labeled to match the corresponding wire diagrams. Cabling diagrams are maintained and checked periodically, especially before undertaking any maintenance work.

  • Fire Protection System

  • Production data centers feature a fire protection system, including active and passive design elements. Smoke detectors are installed to provide early warning of a developing fire by detecting particles generated by smoldering components prior to the development of flame. This allows investigation, interruption of power, and manual fire suppression using hand held fire extinguishers before the fire grows to a large size. A clean agent fire suppression gaseous system is installed (which is better than the fire sprinkler system) to control a full scale fire if it develops. A passive fire protection element included the installation of fire walls around the data center, so a fire can be restricted to a portion of the facility for a limited time in the event of the failure of the active fire protection system.

  • Physical Access and Space for seat NMS

  • Adaptable network monitoring environment plays a key role to identify and recognized earlier potential datacenter problems and outages. It also proactively keeps tabs on the system. NIFT provides in premises NMS seats for infrastructure monitoring, network management services and business continuity.

  • Audit and Logging

  • NIFT maintains 6 months of physical access, CCTV surveillance and incident logs.

  • Assistance for Physical infrastructure Audit by regulators

  • NIFT provides assistance for any physical infrastructure audit conducted by regulator or 3rd party.

  • Technical Support (First Level Support)

  • Support queries will be logged when emailed to esupport@nift.com.pk, over the phone and/or by submitting support form provided by NIFT. A technical analyst will acknowledge the reported problem within 30 min and may acquire additional information if needed. The analyst will assist client until problem resolved. If the problem cannot be resolved within 6 hours, it will automatically escalate to the next level of support.

  • Second Level Support

  • First level support escalates calls to second level if they are unable to resolve support query in the given timeframe. Second level support does, however, take and resolve the support queries. Support team lead will involve service partners/vendors if needed. NIFT and/or its partners will work round the clock until the issue has been resolved.
